As you're probably aware, there has been a lot of buzz this week about the recent decline in active cases of COVID-19 and the loosening of some restrictions by our Government and health officials. While this is exciting and makes us feel hopeful for the coming months, it is important to stay informed and aware, so that we can keep our community moving in the right direction. On March 22, 2020 the Province of Nova Scotia declared a state of emergency to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The state of emergency has been extended until noon on July 12, 2020. Under the state of emergency, police are authorized to enforce orders under the Health Protection Act. If Nova Scotians, businesses and organizations do not practise social distancing and self-isolation, they will face fines of $1,000 for individuals and $7,500 for businesses and organizations. Multiple fines can be given each day an individual, business or organization fails to comply. For more information, check https://novascotia.ca/CoronaVirus . |
